Cari Poisson in Mauritian Creole) is made with fresh pieces of Fish fillets, fresh Eggplants pieces, Tamarin, Tomatoes, Coriander, Curry Leaves, Garlic and many spices including our freshly prepared Curry Madras Masala blend. This particular curry is in fact a favourite of owner Malini's and her family!

This lovely homestyle Black Lentils dish made with black lentils, tomatoes, onion, thyme and many other spices and ingredients is another staple in many Mauritian homes on the island.
It's an incredibly healthy (protein-rich), delicious and hearty dish and really is another one of those soul-satisfying dishes filled with flavour and warmth.
In Mauritian Creole, we’ll either call it “La Soup Lentille” or “Fricasseé Lentilles Noires” or even just “Lentille Noir”!

Fresh tomatoey sauce dish with a curry-like blend of herbs and spices.
This Chickpea LaDaube has become a classic for us here in our home and all that have had the pleasure of eating this dish seem to be spreading the word very quickly on just how amazing the dish is! It is a beautiful vegetarian dish.
Like many East Indian dishes, the flavors typically develop further the longer it gets to sit. So if you’re able to refrain from eating it all up at once, leftovers are even better the next day.

Cucumber Pachedi
Our Mauritian south-indian influenced Cucumber Pachedi is a side dish similar to the north indian Raita. Light and refreshing, it is made with cucumber, plain yogurt, mustard seeds and herbs. This side is a wonderful, healthy accompaniment with curries, dhals and so many more dishes.

Fresh Tomato Chutney
This Tomato Chutney, or "Satini Pomme d'Amour" as we would call it in Mauritius, is an uncooked tomato chutney and is a refreshing choice to serve alongside savoury dishes. Much like our north american salsa in texture and flavour, it is made with fresh tomatoes, onions, herbs and refreshing dressing.

Carrot, Cucumber & Mango Salad
The staple ingredients for most of the salads served in Mauritius are the fresh exotic fruits and vegetables.
This Carrot, Cucumber and Mango Salad is a classic Mauritian side made of grated or thinly julienned carrots, cucumbers, mangoes along with onions in a vinegar, oil and chilli dressing and is typically served as a starter or an accompaniment.

"Satini coco", which translates as Coconut Chutney in english, is widely used as an accompaniment to many dishes, especially curries and rice.
This Coconut Chutney is one of the most versatile chutneys and is a very popular accompaniment in Mauritius. It is made up of coconut, fresh mint, tamarind, garlic and other wonderful ingredients, and when combined showcases an amazing exotic chutney.

Tomato chutneys (Satinis) can be prepared in so many different ways! This week we are offering another variation that is thoroughly enjoyed by many, the grilled or (roasted) tomato chutney with herbs, onions, and spices.

Mauritian Chilli Paste (Mazavaroo) – *upon request*
"Mazavaroo", in creole, is a hot chilli condiment/paste made of fresh chillies, garlic, preserved lemons, spices and a fresh raisin paste.
Back in Mauritius, we typically eat chillies with practically everything! In fact you'll find either freshly chopped hot chillies or this Mauritian "Mazavaroo" Chilli Paste with pretty much every meal!
Since not everyone in this part of the world loves overly spicy food, Taste of Mauritius Catering offers this condiment as a complimentary side with all orders, but UPON REQUEST ONLY!
