Some refer to Hakiens as a Mauritian-style Spring Rolls although these particular ones are coated in a special batter and deep fried until sightly crispy and golden before being served – absolute true perfection! Ideally they are best served and consumed fresh, within a few minutes of being fried – it really is the best way enjoy them…

These beauties are filled with a slew of fresh ingredients… including a wide variety of mixed vegetables along with meat options from prawn, chicken to pork. Biting into an Hakien is an explosion of unique flavours like no other – with a slightly crunchy outside and soft, hearty divine inside!

Mauritians love to enjoy their Hakiens with a chilli sauce and/or garlicky chilli-vinegar dressing!
